Sleep Dentistry for Dental Crowns and Bridges

When you’re living with broken or missing teeth, you’re presented with daily challenges like chewing and eating food comfortably or feeling confident about sharing a smile when you meet someone new. You might tend to hide your smile from others because you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your teeth.

Dental crowns offer an excellent solution for restoring broken, fractured or decayed teeth, while a bridge can replace one or more adjacent teeth.

When Do We Recommend a Tooth Crown?

When your tooth is fractured or decayed, and a filling can't repair it, our dentists may suggest a dental crown to restore it. A crown covers your tooth entirely like a cap and provides strength, durability, and aesthetics so you can smile, chew and eat easily again.

Some conditions that may benefit from a dental crown are:

  • A tooth with a lost or broken old restoration
  • A severely fractured or decayed tooth
  • Strengthening a tooth after root canal treatment
  • To rebuild an excessively worn or weakened tooth

When Do We Recommend a Dental Bridge?

A bridge uses two dental crowns on each end to support one or more prosthetic teeth in between. The crowns anchor to healthy teeth, which provide support and stability for the bridge.

A bridge can be an excellent option if a patient is not qualified for dental implants

Comfortable Procedures with Sleep Dentistry

Whether you need a dental crown, bridge or both to restore your smile, our team can provide comfortable procedures with dental sedation. With a choice between IV sedation or general anaesthetic (GA), we can deliver a level of relaxation that suits your needs.

Dr Asad and his team provide IV sedation in partnering dental clinics in Brisbane and the nearby communities of Logan, Gold Coast, Springwood, Bayside, and Ipswich.

IV Sedation in Brisbane

IV sedation provides relaxation by delivering medication intravenously, and our dentists can adjust the levels as needed throughout treatment. The patient is still responsive but feels completely at ease and even as if they were sleeping due to the nature of the medication.

General Anaesthetic in Brisbane

GA provides an even more profound, sleep-like relaxation with the assistance of an anesthesiologist specialist in a hospital. Patients are asleep and have no memory of their dental procedures during treatment with GA. It’s outpatient treatment, and you’ll be released the same day after a short recovery process monitored in the hospital.

Patients completing treatment with sleep dentistry should plan on having transportation to and from their dental appointments and taking the next few days to rest and recover from their treatment, as well as following the proper protocols for recovery from their procedures.
